Beach Volleyball
In Southern California, beach volleyball has been around and played on the beaches since 1930. It has quickly gained national popularity since Misty May Treanor and Kerri Walsh won the gold medal in beach volleyball in 2004 & 2008 Olympics and has paved the way for junior girls to pursue beach volleyball. 692 is an elite program designed to train juniors in beach volleyball. 692 Beach Volleyball Club has expanded its program to Mission Beach, California in San Diego and was the first beach club to hit the sand in 2009. This elite program offers the best in coaching and personal strength training by professional beach volleyball players and professional trainers.
Beach volleyball is an amazing tool for developing your hitting, defense, and ball control. Ask any college coach in the country and they will tell you that beach volleyball is the quickest way to develop your game.
Beach Volleyball is becoming an NCAA sport in 2012 and colleges all over the nation will be looking for beach volleyball players to represent their universities. We have already been talking to several local Division One colleges about helping them develop a beach volleyball program. Beach volleyball in the past was a great way to develop your indoor game, but due to the popularity and success of the sport, it is on its way to being a new way to get a college scholarship! Beach players used to play indoor in college and then turn to the pro beach tour after they graduated, but now they are going to be able to play beach volleyball in college!
Practice
While most programs are trying to expose as many girls as possible to the sport, our program is a small, elite team, coached by professional beach volleyball players and trained by a personal trainer. 692 West will practice twice a week either on Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday schedule starting at 4:00. During summer break the practice time will change to a morning schedule at 9:00 am. These practices include a 90 minute practice followed by a 45 minute training session with our professional strength and conditioning coach who trains the girls in the sand with medicine balls and plyometric techniques. These sessions are specifically designed to increase the girls' verticals and develop speed, stamina, and core strength in the sand.
Mission Statement
692 is committed to coaching all the beach volleyball skills, offensive and defensive strategy for a young player to be successful on the beach. All players should be committed to giving 100% at all times. 692 will prepare you mentally and physically to be able to compete in junior beach volleyball tournaments. We will be playing in several weekend tournaments, and then going to the CBVA CAL-CUP in Manhattan Beach, California.
The cost for the summer is $750. This fee can be broken down into a $375 payment before first practice and a $375 payment due in June. This fee includes a Spalding volleyball, a jersey top, and a T-shirt for each player. Your membership fee covers training equipment, coaching fees, and administrative expenses. It does not include tournament entry fees or travel expenses to California beaches, as all tournaments are optional for each player. Teams will have the option of playing in all tournaments or skipping some if both partners agree. Each tournament is an individual event with a team entry fee of around $20 or $40 ($10-$20 each) and players can pick and choose which events they want to play in. In beach volleyball you could play the whole season with the same partner or have a different partner every tournament. You don't need a partner to tryout, but if you have one you'd like to play with then that's fine too.
